The Malawi Water and Sanitation Project 1 (MWSP-1) enhances access to clean water and improved sanitation in Blantyre while boosting Blantyre Water Board’s operational efficiency. Jointly funded by the World Bank and the Government of Malawi, the five-year initiative upgrades systems, expands networks, and promotes sustainable infrastructure for a resilient city.

The Malawi Water and Sanitation Project 1 (MWSP-1) is implemented by the Blantyre Water Board with support from the Government of Malawi and the World Bank. Running from June 2023 to March 2029, the project focuses on expanding access to safe water and sanitation facilities, reducing water losses, and enhancing service reliability for Blantyre communities.
